DEMOW: Kartick Chanda, a resident of Demow Chariali near Demow Sitala Mandir and a roadside vendor who used to sell betel nuts and paan before the lockdown, is now selling masks. As Sivasagar district has been listed as green zone, there have been relaxations in the lockdown.

While talking with this correspondent, Kartick Chanda said that before lockdown he used to sell betel nuts, paan, chips, chocolates, water bottles along with other items near the Demow Sitala Mandir but from Monday he started selling locally-made masks at a rate of Rs 20 per mask. He opens his shop at 8 am now and closes at 5 pm before the curfew begins at 6 pm.

"Due to the lockdown I am facing financial problems as I have not been able to open by shop for a long time," he said. He appealed to the State Government to provide some kind of help to petty shop owners like him.
