The NSCN (IM), which signed peace Accord with the Government of India, has alleged that the Assam Rifles and the Manipur Police have been infringing COVID-19 norms in the border state during the on-going nationwide lockdown. The Assam Rifles, a paramilitary force under the Union Home Ministry, has been deployed in the Indo-Myanmar border and it is also tasked to carry on operation against anti-India groups. As per reports, a team of the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police, on Friday did a search operation in Kasom Khullen in Manipur’s Kamjong district along the India- Myanmar border. During the operation, the security personnel violated the COVID-19 norms, alleged the National Socialist SCN(IM). The outfit alleged in a statement that the Assam Rifles and the Manipur police forces into Kashung-Bungdung areas that are strictly abiding the COVID19 protocol has put the villagers at great risk of exposing themselves to the possibility of asymptomatic coronavirus carriers. “Such a blatant violation of COVID19 protocols when the whole world is gripping with the spread of Covid-19 pandemic is nothing but highly irresponsible and condemnable by all who share the fear of what is happening to the world today,” the statement further added.
