Assam Transport Department bans Rapido-Bike Taxi Service in Guwahati, Office sealed

Guwahati: The Assam Transport Department banned the Rapido-Bike Taxi Service in Guwahati for operating without availing any commercial license or commercial permit from the DTO, Kamrup Metro.

Informing this, DTO official, Bapan Kalita told The Sentinel Digital, that the Rapido-Bike Taxi Service is operating in the city without proper documentation since 2019, therefore, the Commissioner of Assam Transport has passed an order to ban the service until further orders.

“Strict action will be taken for violation of orders,” added Kalita.

On Saturday, a team of Assam’s transport department carried out a raid at the Jonali office of Rapido in Guwahati and sealed the office.

Earlier on August 27, 2019; the Transport Department launched operations against the Rapido captains for violating norms.
