Assam's Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has condoled the death of legendary Indian Football player Chuni Goswami, who passed away on Thursday. In a tweet, Chief Minister Sonowal said, " My deepest condolence on the demise of former Indian Football team Captain Chuni Goswami. A legendary all-rounder, footballer per excellence and Ranji Trophy player, his contribution towards Indian sports will always be remembered. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti." Indian Football legend Goswami, the Captain of the 1962 Asian Games winning Indian team breathed his last in Kolkata on Thursday after a prolonged illness. He was 82. His demise saddened all sports aficionados of the country. His family members informed media that he died from heart disease. Under his captaincy, the Indian Football team won the gold medal at the 1962 Asian Games. He also played football for the famous Mohun Bagan Football Club of Kolkata. He started an international football career in 1957. He was also at home in cricket.
