Guwahati: The
Disaster Management Authority of Assam on Thursday issued an order not to hold
any occasion if there are more than 50 people as large gatherings take place
and certain festivities are also organized leading to excessive crowding of
enclosed spaces.
The notice stated that " It is generally observed that
events are held throughout the year and large gatherings were seen in some
festivals which result in extra crowds in the surrounding areas."
Whereas there is a risk of the virus spreading over large areas due to such large gatherings in enclosed spaces without proper social distance and without the maintenance of other Covid-19 protocol and the Covid-19 infection can be adversely affected making contact tracing difficult.
"Therefore I Jishnu Barua, IAS in partial modification of our U.O No. ASDMA.24/2020/part-1/125, Date November 27, 2020, along with MHA order No.40-3/2020-DM-l (A) dated November 25, 2020, do hereby ordered that the following shall remain in force till January 10, 2020 w.e.f the date issue of the order," stated the notice.
1.No gathering in excess of 50% shall be organized during the period of this order.
2.In any event, the total number of participants in any enclosed space whether private or public, shall not exceed 50 percent of the capacity of such space.
3.In case of outdoor events in order to ensure that your physical distance is being maintained at all times the gathering shall be restricted.
4.Any or all religious festivals are encouraged to be conducted preferably inside homes.
5.Appropriate social distance and all other covid management must be followed strictly where religious functions are expected to be performed in public gatherings.
5.Organizers should ensure universal use of masks and sanitation and mandatory testing of staff for COVID 19.
6.All District Superintendents of Police (Commissioner of Police in case of Kamrup Metro) shall ensure strict adherence to these orders.
