Guwahati: In what can be termed as a massive and disastrous blow to the NSCN (R) faction of the Naga rebel group proactive in Changlang district of Eastern Arunachal, the joint security agencies including the District police and 13 Assam Rifles security of Jairampur and Changlang under Dao Division of Indian Army busted several hideouts and temporary shelter of the outfits in the run-up of the country's Red Letter Day.

“To counter and contain effectively the menace of the perverted designs of the outfits in the run-up of the celebration of the Independence Day here across the district, our security forces have been carrying on its sustained counter-insurgency operation on a rather more effective and well -layout format,” said Romil Banniya the Superintendent of Police, Changlang during an interview with the media in Bordumsa here at his Changlang official residence on Monday evening.

As per reports, in past one week three camps of NSCN(R) at New Jukhi, Old Kamlao and Kovin Honkap were traced and destroyed while the ongoing operations in the inaccessible and rough topography in last six months bore desirable fruits leading to the apprehensions of 33 cadres of the banned militant organization which includes several key NSCN cadres including SS Capt Wangjin Pantha, SS Capt Soltin, Rajapio Wangdi who were active since 2009 ', said the top district cop adding 'six suspected Myanmeris was also held recently during the operations.

In order to foil the perverted objectives' of the outfits including sabotage activities and extortion and drug peddling in the run-up of the Independence Day, Six camps of UGs amidst impregnable bushes, difficult terrain and perineal marine locations in the worst militants hit pockets of Changlang ,Old Jukhi,Magantong ,Jongram, Old Kamlao, New Jukhi and Kovin Honkap were destroyed beside recovering edible items, utensils, camouflage dress and other warlike stores of the rebels in last 48 hours hours.

For securing the camp trenches were dug around it to take cover while the exchange of fire. Round the clock, camp security duty is given by cadres in rotation. Bunkers are created to take cover in case of grenade attacks. Fire for cooking food is created by jungle wood, informed the top cop when asked about the vulnerability of the busted temporary hideout camps. Underground training camps of National Socialist Council of Naga, Khaplang faction were also busted earlier following the recovery of AK series weapons and other logistic dumps of the militants.

Among the demolished camps two one each in Jongrom and Laibong village of Changlang District along the India-Myanmar border was set with the special format having trenches and militant sentry posts that could accommodate more than 40 cadres receiving training parallelly along beside using it as temporary halting centres.

Meanwhile when asked about the imminent threat of several militant organizations of the NE calling for the boycott of the I Day celebration, SP Banniya said that various coordinated security agencies have been adequately beefed up and round the clock patrolling, Nakas and mobile check posts have been erected across the district beside intensifying the counter-insurgency operation to thwart the subversives designs of the ultras.
