Guwahati: Amid the ongoing protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) 2019, Singing sensation and Assam's heartthrob Zubeen Garg, said he would rather "die" then allow Citizenship Amendment Act in Assam.

Lashing out at the BJP-led government both at the Centre and Assam during a protest at Chandmari in Guwahati, Zubeen Garg told the media that the government should understand the "pain" of the people of Assam.

"I will die but not allow the Citizenship Amendment Act. The government should feel the pain of people of Assam but they are killing children," said singer Zubeen Garg.

Zubeen also informed that the Artist Association of Assam has also decided to move before the Supreme Court to challenge the amended citizenship act.

"All the artists of Assam are in the process of filing a petition in the Supreme Court. The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won't come back in 2021," Zubeen Garg added.

It is to be noted that thousands of people including Zubeen Garg and other artists joined the protest at a ground in Guwahati's Chandmari on Monday.

A peace concert was also organized there as a mark of protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Zubeen Garg also sang a few of his hit numbers during the protest being backed by All Assam Students Union (AASU).
