Two Rhino Poachers apprehended at Kaziranga National Park, Arms Seized

Guwahati: Based on secret information that some rhino poachers were keeping an arms with an intention to poach a rhino in 6th addition of Kaziranga National Park, an operation was launched today evening at 6:30 pm by a joint team of Biswanath Police led by Muzzafar Hussain, APS, Dy.S.P (HQ), Biswanath and Pranjal Baruah Ranger of Crime Investigation Range of Biswanath Wildlife Division.

The team walked a distance of around 4 kms in Chapori area by crossing a river and succeeded in apprehending the following 2 Rhino poachers in Balidubi Chapori (adjacent to 6th addition of KNP) at 7:45 pm.

The apprehended Rhino Poachers were identified as Ayub Nabi (22) son of Dilbar Hussain, Vill-Kamargaon near Seujpur under PS- Biswanath Chariali, Imran Ali son of Joinal Abedin, Vill- Chilamara under PS- Gingia in Biswanath.

From their possession, one Rifle along with one Magazine has been so far recovered. Efforts are on to unearth if any other poacher is part of their gang. Follow up action is being taken.
