Air India Flight IX-611 Lands in Mumbai Airport for Hitting the Airport Wall On Take Off

An Air India Express that took its flight from Tiruchirappalli or Trichy in Tamil Nadu to Dubai on Friday hit the airport's compound wall by its wheel. This sudden unwanted accident made the flight, carrying 136 passengers, to divert its way and make an emergency landing in Mumbai. As reported by the airport authority, the flight crews and the passengers are found safe on landing.

Notably, the Air India flight IX-611 took off at around 1.20 a.m. from Tiruchirappalli and during the takeoff itself, the wheels of the flight hit the airport wall. On realizing the damage happened to the flight, the pilots decided for an emergency landing in Mumbai at around 5.40 a.m. Later, an alternative flight was arranged to take the passengers to Dubai.

The pilots are scheduled for an investigation and the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation has been informed of the incident. Although the reason for the damage to the wheels of the Boeing B737-800 airplane is not known, the five-foot compound wall at the Tiruchirappalli Airport was found damaged which makes the clouds of doubt clear.

Tamil Nadu Tourism Minister N. Natarajan visited the Trichy airport and inspected the damage on being informed about the incident.
