Asian Games 2018: 16-year-old shooter Saurabh Chaudhary wins Gold

Indian young shooter Saurabh Chaudhary won a Gold for India at the Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta on Tuesday. The 16-year-old youthful shooter defeated Japan's Tomoyuki Matsuda in the Men's 10 metre Air Pistol final. Winning this gold, India now has 3 gold medals in this Asian Games 2018 till yet.

Saurabh Chaudhary became only the fifth Indian shooter to bag a gold in the Asian Games history. Saurabh scored 240.7 against Japan's Tomoyuki Matsuda's 239.7 in a thrilling final.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated Chaudhary for bringing accolade to the state of Uttar Pradesh from where the shooter belonged. UP CM has announced a cash reward of Rs 50 lakh for Meerut resident Saurabh Chaudhary.

Uttar Pradesh’s Sports Minister Chetan Chauhan greeted Chaudhary, he said. “I am sure the feat they have achieved would go on in showing the way to the young and spirited budding sports talent in the state to perform well in national and international events”

India's hobby shooter Abhishek Verma also bagged a Bronze medal for India in the Men's 10 metre Air Pistol final with a score of 219.3.

The family members of shooter Saurabh Chaudhary on Tuesday expressed happiness and satisfaction after their son won a gold medal in men's 10m air pistol event at the ongoing Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta. Chaudhary's mother Brijesh said, "I am very happy for my son. I remember how his father was concerned about his studies but he was adamant that he would pursue his career in shooting. He impressed everyone with his hard work and that got reflected in the form of results,".

India has won seven medals so far out of which three Gold medals, two Silver, and two Bronze.
