Assam Skill Development Mission to introduce Japanese Training Program in State

Guwahati: In order to create a sustainable skill ecosystem for convergence of quality skills training and enhancing the employability of the youth in the state, State Skill Development Minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary on Monday informed that under the aegis of Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM), initiatives have been taken to reach out to sending organizations recognized by NSDC for setting up centres in Assam so that the youths of Assam can be trained in Japanese language and Japanese lifestyle orientation for making them employable in Japan and Japanese industries throughout the world.

Addressing a press conference in CM‘s conference hall ground floor CZm block Dispur, State Skill Development Minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary said that ASDM aims at creating a sustainable skill ecosystem for convergence of quality skills training and enhancing the employability of the youth, and therefore Keeping the objective, Govt. of Assam and Govt. of India allocated fund to ASDM to the tune of Rs. 77 cr (Govt of Assam) and 36 cr (Govt. of India), a sum of Rs. 113 cr for imparting skill training.

Minister Patowary also mentioned that there are around 597 training centres where around 40,840 students have already completed their training and rest 49,787 students are undergoing training.

It is to be noted that Post completion of the training, Assessment and Certification of the trained candidates is conducted by SSC which is recognized by MSDE, Govt of India.

ASDM Skill Training is imparted through Training Providers. The target is awarded to the training Providers on fulfilling the guidelines of SSC norms in respect of lab size and equipment and requisite qualification of the trainer.

Minister Patowary also informed about The North East Skill Centre (NESC) is established under the aegis of Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM) in collaboration with ITE Education Services, Singapore. NESC aims to produce 400 trained candidates annually and offer a one-year certification program in Hospitality- Food & Beverage Service, Hospitality – Housekeeping, Retail Service and Beauty & Wellness.

Also, speaking about other programs under ASDM, Patowary informed that ‘DAKSHA’ a mobile-based application with a one-stop destination for all lifestyle services will be launched soon in the state. This app will be secured with OTP based login and aims to offer over 1000 of doorstep services across 40 sectors as approved by the Sector Skill Council of India. DAKSHA is the acronym for Digital Access to Knowledge & Skilled Human Resource of Assam, the name DAKSHA literally also means ‘skillful’. The DAKSHA App will be available in web, Android and iOS platforms for public after its launch. The pilot run of the App is being implemented in Bongaigaon district.
