Kolkata: BCCI President and former India captain Sourav Ganguly suffered from a "mild cardiac arrest" on Saturday. As per reports, Ganguly was taken to the Woodland hospital in Kolkata where he was diagnosed with the cardiac arrest. He is scheduled to undergo various medical tests and angioplasty by today evening.
Reportedly, the 48 year old skipper had complained of chest pain and dizziness following his morning gym workout session today. He was then rushed to the private hospital in Kolkata and hospitalised to undergo further procedures.
The heart attack was detected soon after his admission and subsequent tests. According to a tweet by journalist and author Boria Majumdar, Dr Saroj Mondal will perform the medical procedures at the Woodland hospital in Kolkata. A three-member medical board is said to work with Dr Mondal in Ganguly's diagnosis.
However, he has been declared stable and capable of speedy recovery as of now by the hospital officials.
The hospital officials were quoted saying, "He is stable now. We are checking whether this pain is due to some cardiac problems or not. He requires to undergo several tests."
Reportedly, although the news of Ganguly's cardiac arrest has been making rounds in media, the State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made it official by posting about the incident on her Twitter handle. She wrote, "Sad to hear that @SGanguly99 suffered a mild cardiac arrest and has been admitted to hospital. Wishing him a speedy and full recovery. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family!"
Notably, the Indian cricket fraternity took to Twitter to convey their best wishes and messages of speedy recovery to Ganguly. Noted cricketers and cricket administrators like Ajinkya Rahane, Mohammad Kaif, Virender Sehwag, Jai Shah, Vinesh Prabhu and Vikrant Gupta posted their positive messages of love prayers and blessings for Sourav Ganguly. Besides, the official page of Press Trust of India also tweeted about developments on his diagnosis as quoted by the hospital sources.
