BJP clinches 9 out of 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam, NOTA remains 3rd in eight constituencies

Guwahati: With the final poll updates, The Sentinel Digital (www.sentinelassam.com) presents the constituencies of all the 14 Lok Sabha seats.

As per the result status, in Autonomous District Horen Sing Bey for Bharatiya Janata Party defeats Biren Singh Engti from Indian National Congress with a margin of 211726 votes.

On the other hand, Kaliabor sitting MP Gaurav Gogoi for Indian National Congress defeats Moni Madhab Mahanta Asom Gana Parishad with a margin of 204803 votes.

MP Gaurav Gogoi secured almost 771380 votes in the 17th General Elections to the Lok Sabha.

In Mangaldoi, Dilip Saikia for Bharatiya Janata Party came out victorious with a margin of 1,23,356 votes over rival candidate and veteran Congress leader Bhubaneswar Kalita.

In Nagaon, there was a neck-to-neck fight between Congress’ candidate Pradyut Bordoloi and Rupak Sharma for Bharatiya Janata Party.

Former Power Minister of Assam Pradyut Bordoloi finally secured the Nagaon LS seat with a margin of just 30,902 votes.

Similarly, in Kokrajhar Lok Sabha Constituency, Independent Candidate and sitting MP Naba Kumar Sarania Independent emerged victorious with a margin of 38506 votes over rival BPF candidate Pramila Rani Brahma.

It is to be noted that United People’s Party, Liberal (UPPL) candidate Urkhao Gwra Brahma trails down to third from first berth since early morning today.

Overall, the final people’s mandate goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Bharatiya Janata Party once again conquered 9 out of 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam.

Indian National Congress secured only three seats in this 17th Lok Sabha Elections, with AIUDF secures one from Dhubri.

Furthermore, NOTA (None of The Above) has also played an important role as 1,57,348 people have chosen to vote in this category as voters did not find any eligible candidates to cast their votes.

In Assam also, many voters have also cast their votes in NOTA and while asked they said that there is no eligible candidates to vote for which they have decided to vote for NOTA.

As per the Election Commission of India result published in its website till the publishing of this report, it has been reported that Tezpur ranked with 4th position with 10435 votes in NOTA. Pallab Lochan Das of BJP has won the seat with 512358 votes ranked 1st and 2nd being Congress candidate M.G.V.K. Bhanu with 311518 votes.
