Guwahati: Bringing the coveted 'Black Lady' along with the best of Indian Superstars to the state of Assam for the very first time, Filmfare today announced that the prestigious 65th Filmfare awards 2020 will be held in Guwahati on February 15, 2020. Taking this association forward, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed today between the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and the Times Group, organizers of the event.
The landmark announcement was made in the presence of eminent dignitaries from the state that included Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, State Tourism Minister Chandan Brahma, Vineet Jain (MD) Bennett, Coleman and Company Limited, Chairman of ATDC Jayanta Malla Baruah, M Angamathu Commissioner and Secretary, Tourism Department and Deepak Lamba-CEO of World Wide Media.
Addressing the gathering, CM Sonowal expressed his happiness at selecting Assam as the venue for the Filmfare award for the first time outside Mumbai. He also informed the media that the mega event will be conducted with an expenditure of 23 crore. He also said that this mega event by one of India's most prestigious media organizations would ensure showcasing of Assam as one of the most attractive tourist destinations of the country before billions of people across the world.
On the other hand, speaking in the event ATDC chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah said that the Times Group will contribute at least 50% of the revenue earned from the Filmfare tickets will go to the Chief Minister’s relief fund.
