NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has suggested amendment of Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.
According to Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) (Amendment) Act, 2020, severe penalty will be imposed for “Objectionable Advertisements” that suggests misleading remedies to public on disease, disorder or condition such as, skin fairness, obesity and many such conditions.

Previously, several celebrities have openly endorsed fairness creams. A lot of well-known people have also spoken up against this bias that views lighter skin as favorable.
