Lumding: State Health Minister, Pijush Hazarika on Friday alleged before the media that a section of doctors at the Lumding Civil Hospital is involved in collecting money in the name of caesarian operation for the last couple of months.

Based on allegations, Health Minister, Pijush Hazarika paid a surprise visit along with a team from Health Department at the Lumding Civil Hospital.

Reportedly, a section of doctors of the civil hospital is allegedly involved in collecting an amount of Rs 15,000 for caesarian operations.

Speaking to the media, Health Minister, Hazarika said, "As per my confirmed sources, I was told that Lumding Civil Hospital focuses more on caesarian operations rather than normal delivery. The authorities also collect an amount of Rs 15,000 for caesarian operations. This hospital has been running the service in an abnormal way. Although, my team couldn't apprehend anyone red-handed in connection with the incident. I have received a video earlier, where a person alleges that he had to pay around Rs 15,000 in two instalments. Later, the baby died in an unusual manner."

Minister Hazarika also mentioned that he will direct Hojai Deputy Commissioner to look into the matter and identify the doctors who are directly involved in this job. "Enquiry will be conducted in connection to the incident, and if we find any anomalies then strict action will be taken against the guilty person," said Minister Hazarika.

He also directed that none should be involved in collecting money in the name of caesarian operations.

Also, local people alleged that a section of doctors is directly involved in collecting money in the name of caesarian operations at Lumding Civil Hospital.

Few of them also alleged that the doctors are also running their own nursing homes and also treats a patient at the pharmacies.
