Magisterial Probe ordered in Biswanath Chariali Electrocution Case

Biswanath: Soon after the shocking death incident of Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) Lineman Robin Das in Biswanath Chariali today morning, Biswanath District Administration orders a magisterial probe in connection to the electrocution incident.

The investigation will be carried out under the supervision of the Additional Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate of Biswanath Diganta Baishya.

The administration had also announced ex-gratia of Rs 2.5 lakh to the family members of the deceased Lineman Robin Das.

Also, Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) Tezpur circle, Chief Executive officer Ranjana Sarma also extended her helping hands to the family members of the deceased and compensated them with a cheque of Rs 2.5 lakh.

It may also be mentioned that two on-duty linemen Babul Ali and Dambarudhor Borah were suspended from their duties until further orders. Both the on-duty Linemen allegedly fled the spot when Lineman Robin Das was engaged in repairing the 11 KV electric lines in the area.

The furious locals held the power department’s careless attitude responsible for the death of the ASEB employee. Angry local people also gheraoed the ASEB office in Biswanath and chanted slogans against the power department.

Condemning the incident, the local people earlier demanded an investigation into the matter.

A complaint was lodged on the matter at the electricity department in Biswanath by the local people. Based on a complaint, a few officials of the power department visited the site.

Bharatiya Janata Party’s Biswanath MLA Pramod Borthakur also visited the spot assured investigation and compensation to the family members of the deceased.
