Mob attack is not a new scene in Assam and other states of the nation now despite being strictly warned and banned by the administration. The recent instance of mob attack is in the Mangaldai district of Assam now wherein a furious mob brutally thrashed a man on suspicion of being a cow lifter.
The incident took place on Sunday when a man was caught and mercilessly beaten by the local people of Mangaldai’s Dewna village. The mob later tied the person to a cycle and pulled him around the village. As the recent incidents of cow lifting is a common scene in Mangaldai, the people of the village did not hesitate in taking up the law in their hands and punish the suspected cow lifter without waiting for the law and administration to interfere.
The person, at first, was being chased to quite a distance by the village people and when the person gave up running, the villagers caught him up and started beating him mercilessly. The Mangaldai police, however, reached the spot and rescued the person from the villagers who otherwise would have succumbed to his injuries if being left to the mob for some more time.
