Guwahati: Mob violence over an allegation of cow slaughter took a bitter turn in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district which led to the killing of a police inspector on Monday. The dead inspector is being identified as Subodh Kumar Singh who had received a severe injury while trying to bring the situation under control.
As stated by police reports, the inspector had received critical injuries during the stone pelting that took place as a part of mob violence. Although he was being carried to the nearby hospital for an immediate treatment, the doctor declared him as brought dead. Singh had received injuries on his head.
The situation went out of control when an incident of cow slaughter took place in Chingravati village. As stated by the District Magistrate Anuj Jha, police had rushed to the village to bring the situation under control. The protesters had staged a road roko protest. Police was trying to calm down the situation and clear the road for communication. It was then when some of the protesters pelted stones on the police and Singh received severe injuries on the head.

On the other hand, the police too had to release fires on the protesters to keep them restrained. BJP district president Himanshu Mittal says that the police had shot two protesters, one of whom is suspected to be a BJP activist. He is being referred to Meerut in critical condition. However, the other protester is reported to have succumbed to injuries.
