Guwahati: In a mysterious murder incident, a retired Pollution Control Board Official was killed by unidentified miscreants in Guwahati on Tuesday evening.
As per Guwahati Police Commissioner MP Gupta, the deceased official identified as Paresh Chandra Baruah (72) was all alone in his residence House No 20 near Dispur Law College when a group of miscreants entered his campus and attacked him on his head with a sharp weapon.
Wife Dr. Garima Saikia Baruah found his body lying on the floor at around 10 pm and informed the matter to Dispur Police.
Meanwhile, DGP Assam Police Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta and City Commissioner MP Gupta visited the crime spot near Dispur Law College and enquired about the incident.
Speaking to the media, Commissioner MP Gupta said, “As per preliminary investigation deceased Paresh Chandra Baruah was alone in the house when he was murdered by the unidentified miscreants. We have also found some injury marks on his head and accordingly, we are conducting an investigation in connection to the matter. The body has been sent for post mortem.”
Deceased Paresh Chandra Baruah is survived by his wife and two sons.
