Six Hardcore ULFA (I) surrendered before Tinsukia Police, Arms & Ammunition Recovered

Tinsukia: Four ULFA (I) cadres, at 1230 hrs to the 1320 hrs, after relentless efforts of police and security forces, came up to lay down their arms and surrender.

Based on a specific input received by Tinsukia district police, regarding presence of ULFA (I) cadre in area of Margherita, a joint search operation was launched led by Tinsukia Police, (inclusive of 210 Cobra battalion, 68 Bn CrPF) with 9 Rajrif and 21 PARA SF, at around 0900 hrs today.

Initial interrogation of the cadres is being carried out.

The surrendered ULFA(I) cadres were identified as: i) SS Second LT Pabitro Asom alias Phamen Moran son of Bihudhar Moran, Village: Horumechai, Police Station: Kakopathar, Year of joining ULFA(I) January 2010.

ii) Cpl Aluk Asom alias Mintu Moran son of Duleshwar Moran, resident of Ubon, Police Station: Kakopathar, Year of joining April 2017.

iii) LC Merchant Asom alias Pranjit Moran son of Gagan Moran, resident of Jokaisuk, PS – Baghjan, Year of Joining April 2017.

iv) LC Abon Asom alias Rajib Moran son of Pobin Moran, resident of Bishnupur, Police Station- Doomdooma, Year of Joining April 2017.

The following items were recovered and seized from their possession

4 AK series Rifles (2 MQ 81 and 2 AK 56), Ammunition - 275 Live rounds, Magazine – 09, Handgrenade -01.

Again, based on interrogation of the four ULFA (I) cadres, surrendered in Margherita area today afternoon, corroborated by a specific input received by Tinsukia Police, of two ULFA (I) cadres with arms in Tekri area under Pengree PS, another joint search operation was launched led by Tinsukia police (inclusive of 210 Cobra, 68 Bn Crpf ) with 3 Garhwal and 21 PARA SF, at around 1445 hrs.

Two ULFA (I) cadres came up to surrender at around 1530 hrs from Tekri Mangaon area under Pengree PS. The details of the surrendered cadres are as under:-

(a) Cpl Sonjuk Asom alias Milan Jyoti Mohanto, son of Dobu Mohanto, Village: Hathijan, PS Barekuri, Year of joining April 2010.

(b) L Cpl Puron Asom alias Kolyan Boruah son of Lalit Boruah, resident of Sukani, Police Station Makum, Year of joining April 2017.

The following items were Recovered and seized from their possession--

2 AK series assault rifles (2 MQ 81), Ammunition - 120 Live rounds, Magazine – 04, Hand grenade -01
