Kokrajhar: Reacting to the Kokrajhar Incident on Saturday, Superintendent of Police, Rajen Singh claimed before the media that the fight between him and executive magistrate Sailen Das doesn't have any connection with their respective posts or positions.

"Both of us were hostel mates at Rajanikanta Bordoloi Hostel during our graduation days at Cotton College and the fight doesn't have any connection to our respective posts," said SP Kokrajhar.

SP Kokrajhar also mentioned that he doesn't hold any grudge upon the executive magistrate Sailen Das.

The matter is under investigation, therefore SP Kokrajhar refused to comment on it further.

Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal ordered a probe on the matter. Notably, Lower Assam Commissioner Meenakshi Sundaram was given the charge to initiate a proper investigation into the incident.

It may be mentioned that the Kokrajhar District Superintendent of Police, Rajen Singh allegedly assaulted the district executive magistrate Sailen Das inside a hotel complex in the midnight hours of September 10, 2019.

The incident came to light after RTI activist Dulal Bora made it public on last Friday i.e on September 20.

The entire incident was captured in the CCTV cameras which were installed inside the premises of a hotel in Kokrajhar.

The video of the incident has now gone viral on social media platforms as well.

Furthermore, RTI activist Dulal Bora in a press statement further alleged that the Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh and the district executive magistrate Sailen Das had gone out for a dinner in a hotel at Kokrajhar. Things turned ugly between the duo after Das proposed SP Singh to sing a song with him to which he refused leading to a heated verbal duel between the two.
