JORHAT: Three youths - Dipankar Gogoi, Pritam Talukdar, and Dimple Das, all from Baghchung area and executive members of AJYCP Borbheta Anchalik Unit - have been sent to Jorhat Central Jail and booked under Section 294, 295 (1), 353, 120 (B), and 144, for waving black flags during the foundation-stone laying ceremony of the Cinnamora Primary Health Centre on Tuesday.
When Union Minister for State for Food Processing, Rameswar Teli was delivering his address, these three youths rose up from the second row of the VIP seat and shouted Joi Ai Asom and waved black flags in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, said police sources here.
All three were apprehended and picked up by security personnel and booked under the non-bailable section. On the other hand, the AJYCP unit of Jorhat district has been demanding the district administration to release the three as they had not uttered words against the government or tried to manhandle the security personnel. They have been booked under the wrong section of IPC, said AJYCP leaders.
