Biswanath: After former Army officer and Kargil War veteran Mohammad Sanaullah and CISF jawan Mamud Ali who were declared as foreigners, another incident came to light on Wednesday where the Foreigners’ Tribunal had issued D-Voter notices to three people who claimed them to be an Indian Citizen.
The three people hailing from Biswanath District were identified as Ananda Ghosh (33), Pramila Saho (40) and Kalpana Karmakar (60) were sent to a detention camp after being declared as D-voter many ages back.
As per reports, soon after D-voter notice, Border Police had forwarded all the three people to detention camp as they couldn’t prove their citizenship despite having all the valid documents which include Voter ID, Birth Certificate, Pan Card, Legacy Data, etc.
Sources informed that Ananda Ghosh of Biswanath’s Boldanga was sent to detention camp 3 ½ years back, similarly, Pramila Saho of Biswanath’s Pratabgarh was sent to detention camp 20 years back and Kalpana Karmakar of Biswanath’s Kadomoni village was sent to detention camp three months back.
Meanwhile, family members and villagers appealed to the concerned authority for their immediate release of the all the declared D-voters had presented all the valid documents before the Foreigners Tribunal.
It is to be noted that People whose names have been excluded in the draft list and the additional list of NRC (National Register of citizens) in Assam are distraught and some have taken the extreme step of ending their lives. The additional list was published on June 26 leaving out nearly 1 lakh from the NRC while the draft list published earlier had excluded 41 lakhs of people.
Also, recent News of a teenage girl Noor Nehar Begum committing suicide on the same day the additional list was out; sent waves of anguish to the already distressed residents of Assam who have been anxious and distressed all the time about their residential status.
