Indian Whisky Named "Double Gold Best In Show" in Whiskies of the World

NEW DELHI: In what is being called a very proud moment for Indian brewers and brands, a local whisky has been named the best whisky, leaving behind several known brands from across the world. Indri, a whisky from India has been awarded the "Double Gold Best In Show" in the Whiskies of the World 2023. Indri whisky is the first Indian whisky to win this renowned award.

This development is a very significant achievement as the Whiskeys of the World is one of the most prestigious whisky-tasting events in the world and the awards are recognised in several countries of the world. It is an annual competition that aims at recognising and celebrating whiskies from around the world. This event also serves as a platform for alcohol producers and distilleries to showcase their products and compete for the prestigious award.

The Indri Diwali Collector's Edition 2023 was picked as the best whisky brand during the Whiskies of the World. Indri was awarded "Double Gold Best In Show" in the event which had more than 100 varieties of whiskies from across the world competing to be the best.

This whisky is a product of the Piccadily Distilleries registered in Haryana of India. Experts have mentioned that is a peated Indian single malt whisky because of its smoky flavour, which is induced using peat fires to dry malted barley.

This particular brand is said to be crafted with six-row barley and distilled in traditional made-in-India copper pot stills, mentioned a report. Accordingly, this whisky has notes of smoke, candied dried fruits, toasted nuts, subtle spices, oak and bittersweet chocolate. As of now, this brand is available in nearly 20 states of the country. It is also available in several other countries of the world and is expected to be made available in the United States and multiple European countries in the coming month.
