New Delhi: Following the rise in input costs, the country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has hiked the price of its vehicle from 0.9 percent to 1.9 percent.
The company, which currently sells a range of vehicles from Alto to S-Cross, said it has taken the decision to hike prices due to an increase in input costs.
''The weighted average price rise, with effect from April 18, in ex-showroom prices (New Delhi) across models is 1.3 percent,'' the company said.
In January too, the automaker had hiked its vehicle prices by around 8,8 percent owing to constant input costs.
Notably, over the past year, the cost of the company's vehicles continues to be adversely impacted due to an increase in various input costs, as per the regulatory filing earlier this month.
Last week, Mahindra & Mahindra too hiked its vehicle prices by 2.5 percent, entailing an increase of up to Rs 63,000. Similarly, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has increased the prices of its entire model range by up to 4 percent from April 1. Luxury carmakers Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW have also announced price hikes recently.
According to the gaadiwaadi report, one of the most affordable models – Alto – has become more expensive by Rs. 8,000 across the table. The same is the case with S-Presso – a hike of Rs. 8,000 on all variants.
Apart from these, Maruti Celerio's prices have been surged by up to Rs. 11,000. However, a few variants of the hatchback haven't become more expensive at all. As for Wagon-R, its prices have increased by Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000, depending on the variant. Maruti Swift's prices have increased by Rs. 1,900 on the base trim, while all other variants have become more expensive by Rs. 8,000.
Coming to Dzire, it has seen a price hike in the range of Rs. 4,500 to Rs. 15,000, while the company's compact SUV – Vitara Brezza – the prices have seen an increment of Rs. 15,000.
Maruti Eeco's prices have increased by Rs 5,530 to Rs. 10,887, while Ignis, the prices have been hiked by up to Rs. 14,000. Maruti Baleno, which facelift was recently launched months ago, is now more expensive by up to a maximum of Rs. 22,000.
Maruti Ciaz witnessed a hike of Rs. 12,500, depending on the variant. On Maruti S-Cross, an increment of up to Rs. 15,000 have been seen.
As per reports, the updated prices of Maruti Suzuki cars will be applicable starting April 18, 2022.
