Guwahati: The new Kaziranga edition of the Punch has been unveiled by Tata motors and it is a one-off edition of the micro-SUV and the vehicle will be auctioned off to the fans.
The money raised from the auction will then be siphoned off towards the conservative efforts at Kaziranga National Park in Assam.
The Kaziranga edition will sport a new paint scheme which has been named as "Meteor Bronze". This paint shade is exclusively made for this car and will not be available to regular customers. The Kaziranga edition is based on the top-end creative variant of the Punch.
The car will also feature a rhino emblem on its exterior. Also, the punch badging is finished in piano black.
But, it seems like the manufacturers have not inserted any extra features or any notable differences to the exclusive version of Punch.
The Kaziranga edition of Tata punch will come with all the features that Tata motors has to offer as the variant is based on the top-end Creative trim.
It will boost of projector headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lamps, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, roof rails, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster with an analogue speedometer, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers.
Apart from these impeccable features, the vehicle will also come with auto-fold function for the outside rearview mirrors, automatic climate control, cooled glove box, rear wiper with washer, rear defogger, puddle lamps, a rear armrest and leather-wrapped gear knob.
However, whether or not Tata motors will be offering iRA pack with its Kaziranga edition remains to be seen. The iRA pack adds connected car features to the Punch and it is offered only on the top-end variant.
The likes of a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push button to start/stop the engine, LED tail lamps, front fog lamps, cruise control, driver seat height adjustment, reverse parking camera, USB charging ports and a multi-function steering wheel will also feature in the Kaziranga edition.
As far as the safety features are concerned, Tata motors offers a dual airbag, Anti-lock braking system with Electronic Brake Distribution, RPAS, IAC, ISS and Brake Sway Control.
It is worth noting that Tata punch currently happens to be the safest car on sale in India. It clocked a score of 5 stars in the Global NCAP Crash Test.
The micro-SUV scored 16.45 points out of 17 for adult protection and it scored 40.89 points out of 49 for child protection. The Punch is based on the ALFA platform that is shared with the Altroz which itself is currently the safest premium hatchback in the segment.
As far as its pricing is concerned, it varies accordingly with the lowest price starting from Rs. 5.64 lakhs ex-showroom and it climbs up to Rs. 8.98 lakhs ex-showroom. The car is offered in four trims, namely the Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative.
The primary competitors of the Tata punch are Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Mahindra KUV100, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite and the lower variants of the Hyundai Venue and Kia Kiger.
