158th Birth Anniversary Of Rabindra Jayanti Observed In Hailakandi District

Hailakandi: The 158th birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore was observed in schools in Hailakandi district with varied programmes on Thursday. Homage was paid to the cultural icon in the schools across the district and speeches were delivered about the universal appeal of Tagore. “Tagore is ageless and he is universal. His thinkings should continue to inspire us,” said principal of CMHS School, Durgaprasad Bhattacharjee to the students referring to how he, like many others, “continue to be motivated by Gurudev through his evergreen songs and poems.”

Inspector of Schools, Rajiv Kumar Jha said the day was observed in a befitting manner in GCRBM High School, Pran Krishna Balika HS School, Katlicherra Girls’ High School, CMHS School, Lakshirbond HS Madrassa, Adarsh Vidyalaya, Cambridge High School, Hare Kishore High School, Morning Glory English Medium High School, Haricharan Mahamaya Girls’ High School, JCHS School, AK High Madrassa and RT Sishu Sadan English Medium High School. Chorus, Rabindra Sangeet, dance and recitations were organised on the occasion. The celebration was also observed in other parts of Assam and elsewhere in the country.
