SILCHAR: Cachar Deputy Commissioner Barnali Sharma conducted a raid in Silchar city area on Sunday in the afternoon and found a group of boys and ladies at their thirties moving on the streets without any valid reasons that too without using masks and not maintaining social distancing which violates the government guidelines of COVID-19. During the raid she also noticed that the salesmen of medicine shops at two places were selling medicines without using masks and gloves to their customers.
Deputy Commissioner immediately called the police personnel from the nearest police outpost and handed over them to the police. They were arrested by the police and later they were taken in to remand. Action was taken against them in accordance with the law, fines were also imposed on them for non compliance of the government guidelines during COVID-19 period.
In view of this, the Deputy Commissioner Sharma mentioned that it is important to wear a mask and maintain social distancing at all levels. She urged all not to leave the houses unless its absolutely necessary during the lockdown period and strictly follow the government guidelines and non compliance the government directions, action will be taken against them as per section 51(b) of Disaster management act, 2005, stated in a press release.
