Silchar: The valley of Barak has many talented boys and girls to blaze their trail in games and sports. Lack of proper opportunities and exposure makes them obscure and keep them far from public glare to exhibit their latent talent. Kavita Singha, who won the gold medal in fencing at the recently concluded Asian Games held at Kathmandu, is a glaring example. She has now been selected as the icon of the “Beti Bachao, Beti pathao” campaign by the district administration of Cachar. Kavita hails from Tolangram in the Lakhipur subdivision of Cachar.
Following her story of glory comes yet another tale of success from the subdivision. At the centre of applaud is the little champ Niribash Singha who too won the gold medal at the just held national all style open martial art competition at Lumding. He participated on behalf of the Coushu Kung Fu Society, Lakhipur. His father Y Nilmoni Singha is serving in the army as a soldier. Y Binota Singha is his proud mother. The family hails from Nayagram, Fulertal.
Niribash Singha studies in Class V at Don Bosco School. He won a gold medal in the sub-junior boys’ team. He was trained and well prepared to take on the challenge by his coach Ramjoy Das. The news of Niribash’ success has brought smiles on the people of his village, in particular, and the valley in general. His parents along with well-wishers wish for his grand show in future as well to bring glory and pride and be a source of inspiration for all the aspirants of success in games and sports.
