Silchar: Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy on Wednesday chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DDCMC) meeting, also known as DISHA Committee meeting, at the conference hall of DC Office of Cachar. Deputy commissioner Laya Madduri was present as member secretary of the committee and MLAs of Cachar Dilip Kr. Paul, Mihirkanti Shome, Rajdeep Gowala, Kishor Nath and Amar Chand Jain were also present besides the officials from various departments and PRI Representatives of the district. The DISHA committee was formed by the Central government with the objective of effective development coordination of all the programmes of Central government including Infrastructure, Social and Human resource development. This committee would monitor the implementation of schemes and programmes of Ministry of Rural Development and other ministries to promote synergy and convergence for greater impact.
The chairman of the committee for Cachar Dr Rajdeep Roy stated that the committee would sit for four times a year and it would take stock of progress of central government sponsored schemes in the district. He emphasised on reducing the infant mortality rate and maternal mortality rate in the district, stated a press release.
