Hailakandi: 500 enumerators and 80 supervisors will be involved in performing the 7th Economic Census in Hailakandi district. A district level training for enumerators and supervisors was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room here on Saturday. The census will provide insights of all economic activities and ownership patterns of businesses across the district. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) partnered with CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd (CSC SPV) to conduct the census.

The Statistics Ministry has decided to use mobile phone application for conducting the survey, which will speed up the process of data collection and analysis. “The economic census will be done using a mobile application. There will be two rounds of supervision to ensure quality of the census,” a CSC official said. “80 supervisors of common services centres (CSC), which are the access points for delivery of essential public utility services, social welfare schemes, healthcare, financial, education and agriculture services will be involved in the survey,” said Utpal Roy, District Manager, CSC. Geo-tagging is being introduced which will help to find out the distribution of economic activity in a certain place.

“We have proposed to start the survey fieldwork from June end at the block level covering all the 62 gaon panchayats and the field work will be finished in two months only from the date of commencement and simultaneously results will be out in a phased manner, “ said Roy.
