Hailakandi: The progress of status of various projects and schemes in Hailakandi district were reviewed on Wednesday. Reviewing the progress of various schemes and projects being implemented by different departments and agencies in the District Development Committee meeting at her office conference hall here, Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli asked the district heads to expedite the completion of the works within the stipulated timeframe so that the fruits of development reach out to the people.

Jalli asked the Water Resources to complete without further delay the anti-erosion measures at Panchgram Colony, Sahabad-Rangpur areas, including NH154, Katlicherra Bagan area and strengthening of embankment from Ratanpurghat to Mohanpur. Upgradation of Bilaipur MPHC and Kalinagar PHC under CM’s Special Package were reviewed. Over 85 per cent construction work of the health institutions completed.

The construction work of Circle Office, Lala and Algapur were also reviewed. The 100-bedded girls’ hostel at Jamira High School under MSDP 11th Plan has been completed. The ITI at Kuchila is expected to be completed by August this year. The BoP construction work at Baruncherra is completed.

The DC also reviewed the status of progress of Swami Vivekananda auditorium and guest house coming up at Kalinagar, Panchgram. The sprawling veterinary hospital complex built under RIDF XVIII at Lala has been handed over to the concerned department.

A number of piped water supply schemes came up for review, including the Neer Nirmal Pariyojana under World Bank at Algapur. Expressing dissatisfaction over the progress of the WB project, Jalli directed the Executive Engineer, PHED to complete the balance work at the earliest. Of the six mega piped water supply projects, two have been completed and the remaining four are under various stages of execution.

The DC directed the Executive Engineer, PWD (NH) to work on a war footing to complete the Dholeswari bypass and to take special care to repair the damaged portion just at the entry point of the district, though it does not fall under NH. Various ongoing projects under PWD (Rural Roads) also came up for review. The DC asked the Executive Engineer to keep the rural roads in good shape in view of the onset of monsoon to ensure unhindered flow of gratuity relief materials to the flood prone areas.

Jalli directed the district heads of development departments to work on a mission mode and to serve notices to the defaulting contractors for dillydally in execution of work and even to terminate the contracts for not heeding to the notices. Additional Deputy Commissioner, EL Faihriem and other officials of the district administration attended the meeting.
