They will also demonstrate ORS preparation to the caregivers.

Laya Madduri said, “It is important to create awareness regarding Diarrhoea. In India, cases of deaths of infants and kids under the age of 5 are mainly due to Diarrhoea. Malnutrition can also be caused by Diarrhoea. It is very easy to control it if one knows how to do so. One should take pure drinking water. Boiling of water can also prevent widespread of this deadly disease. Precautions should also be taken while cooking food. Since it is a rainy season, the chances of an outbreak of water-borne diseases are also high.

First-aid measures, ORS, Zinc tablets etc should be provided in case the disease outbreak. Diarrhoea causes continuous lose of nutrients. ORS helps to replenish these nutrients. ORS and Zinc tablets also help to control dehydration. This is a noble initiative taken by the National Health Mission. Women in general and home-makers and mothers, in particular, have a huge role to play in creating mass awareness regarding Diarrhoea.
