Netaji's birth anniversary observed

Silchar: Along with the whole country, the 123rd birth anniversary of Netaji was celebrated by a large number of organizations on Wednesday. Student participants from a large number of schools took part in the various games and sports which was organized at District Sports Association ground. Debabrata Biswas of All India Forward Bloc who is also the former Member of the Parliament of India representing West Bengal in the Rajya Sabha, has come here all the way from Kolkata and addressed the gathering at DSA as the chief guest on the occasion.

Debabrata Biswas said, "It is important to teach and preach the ideals, ideas, thoughts and philosophy of Netaji to the young minds. Children should be taught about him and a lesson in Netaji should be incorporated in textbooks of primary classes. Every house needs a Netaji and this can only be achieved if the young minds are trained thus." A blood donation camp was also organzied in Goldighi Municipal Mall by the merchant welfare association of the mall in collaboration with Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donor Forum and the SMCH's blood donors.

The celebration of the anniversary of the great leader was organized by the members of Central Netaji Birthday Celebration Committee and other organizations like Chondoneer, Rupam Sanskritik Sangstha. After the inaugural song, more than 50 schools participated in the march past with fluttering flags. A number of kids and youth participated in games and sports competition events, chorus and group dances. Participants were given prizes and certificates of appreciation from the committee members. Earlier in the day, a large number of schools and organizations took out processions that moved across the town.

A large number of people also walked on the streets accompanying the processions. Members of Union Territory Demand Committee (UTDC), Amra Bangali, Citizens' Reservation Protection Committee (CRPC), Netaji Chatra Yuva Sangstha (NCYS), Silchar, Lions Club, Silchar, All India Forward Bloc and others also took out and rally before converging before the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at Rangirkhari point, Silchar. They paid floral tributes at the statue of this great leader of Indian political system. The ambience of the town was filled with patriotic songs preaching the ideals of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Exactly at 12:41 pm, the birth time of Netaji, his statue at Rangirkhari point was garlanded by leaders and members of various organizations.

Hailakandi: The 123rd birth anniversary of Indian freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was observed across Hailakandi district on Wednesday. The Municipal Board, Hailakandi marked the beginning of the celebration by garlanding the statue of Netaji. People from all walks of life visited Bata Point since early morning to pay their homage.

Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan also observed the day in a befitting manner at Loyal Academy in Hailakandi town. In his welcome address, District Youth Coordinator, Shekhar Ranjan Deb recalled the contributions of Netaji in the freedom struggle and stressed the need to inculcate the ideals of the great leader to strengthen the country's national integrity. Describing Netaji as the son of the soil, Deb said Netaji's strong morale, distinct ideology and spirit of sacrifice for the country will continue to inspire generations to come. Some of the speakers recalled the tribulations and thoughts of Netaji who wanted the country to become free from colonialism.

A voluntary blood donation camp was also organised at Club Sunlight in which president and secretary, Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donors' Forum, Dr. Paritosh Chandra Dutta and Secretary, Nazrul Yuva Parishad, Sudarshan Bhattacharjee and other dignitaries were present.

A function was also observed at Lala town where Chairman, Municipal Board, Lala, Pulok Nath and other dignitaries paid glowing tribute to his memory by garlanding the statue of Netaji. Students of SRSM Adarsha Vidyapith brought out a rally through the main thoroughfares of the town and paid floral tributes at Netaji's statue. Lala Athletic Club organized a marathon race from Lala to Sahabad in which 33 participants took part in it. A painting competition was also held among the school students on the occasion.

JOYSAGAR: The birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was observed in Sivasagar on Wednesday. The Indian Patriotic Federation (Socialist) arranged a public memorial function near the Laxminath Bezbaruah Park in Sivasagar town. On the occasion earthen lamps were lit by local people while students recited patriotic poems and sang songs.

Meanwhile, the Sivasagar Bengali Yuba Chatra Federation observed the day in the Sivasagar Lions' Club auditorium where hundreds of social workers and educationists took part. Earlier in the morning, the Sivasagar Bengali Yuba Chatra Federation took out a cultural rally in the town.
