Silchar: In order to counter and upset the politically motivated and emotionally surcharged misinformation campaign by the Opposition and some organisations over CAA, BJP as programmed has started addressing public meetings organised by its sister outfits with the sole objective of setting record intact and to remove all misgiving and confusion from the mind of people in general. On the frontline is Dr Rajdeep Roy MP who in a gap of 48 hours was in contact with people at three well organised and well crowded rallies at Silchar, Gumra and Malini Beel. Though his speech being identical in nature, he did succeed “in ripping apart the myth and fiction created mainly by Congress to cause friction and disorder among people.”
Without identifying AASU by name, Dr Roy said, “It is sad that some organisation should go to the length of demanding roll back of the CAA, a hyperbolic proposition, without trying to understand its implication.” He said in the most unambiguous terms that the Citizenship Amended Act 2019 is designed to give shelter and protection to the persecuted minorities of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh who include Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, Buddhists and Christians. It never takes away any body’s citizenship or infringes on any one’s fundamental and constitutional right. This has been clearly spelt out by the Prime Minister and the Home Minister of India.
“Yet disinformation should be floated to reap political mileage and just for the sake of opposition to unsettle the apple cart of NDA in 2021,” pointed out Dr Rajdeep Roy. Gradually, the haze or mist is dissipating and the youths and people in general are able to understand the game plan of the Opposition, he said. Valley BJP will reach out to cross sections of people. He asserted what has been done cant be undone, giving clear signal, “there is no question of roll back of CAA.” He challenged state Congress president Ripon Bora and Sushmita Dev MP to join open debate over the CAA.
Dr Roy made a blistering attack on West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, a perfect megalomaniac, who questions the constitutional validity of CAA, knowing full well it was passed by both the houses of Parliament. Even the Supreme Court has made it clear it will examine not the constitutional propriety but legality of the Act, pending before it. He also asserted that the Hindu refugees are the original inhabitants of this valley and named a few revolutionary freedom fighters like Surya Sen, Ullaskar Dutta, Bagha Jatin, Bipin Chandra Paul among others and asked from where did they come? Sylhet was lost due mainly to the indifferent attitude of Congress towards referendum. This valley is inhabited by the displaced refugees from Sylhet, Dr Roy said. Other saffron leaders also spoke, but Dr Rajdeep Roy was the main speaker.
