Guwahati: The Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh on Monday handed over the wrong mortal remains of the baby to relatives.

The incident came to light when the relatives of the deceased went to perform the last rites at Sivasagar crematorium and found that it was not a baby girl but a boy.

Regarding this, the family members of the deceased filed an FIR against the AMCH authority for their alleged blunder while handing over the body of the baby.

After a preliminary inquiring, it was revealed that the boy died of COVID-19 at AMCH and is a son of Basit Ali of Charadieo.

According to reports, both families have expressed their dissatisfaction over the negligence of the hospital authorities.

However, the investigation in this regard is underway.
