GUWAHATI: Two students of Dibrugarh University of Assam have been suspended from college after they were found guilty of ragging by the authorities.

The suspended students were identified as Rituparna Das and Kingku Saikia and both of them were studying in the 5th semester of the Division of Mechanical Engineering in the Dibrugarh University Institute of Engineering (DUIET).

According to an official statement, both the accused were suspended for two years for allegedly ragging a junior student in Guruprasad Das Chatra Nivas. They also physically harassed the junior in the hostel premises.

The victim later informed the authorities regarding the incident following which the two accused students were suspended.

It is also known that Rituparna Das was elected as the assistant general secretary from AASU in the 2021-2022 university elections.
