GUWAHATI: The Congress and all the opposition parties got into a huddle to take a decision to fight the 2024 Lok Sabha election in unison in Assam. In the meeting, AICC general secretary and Assam in-charge Jitendra Singh was present. The leader of the Opposition Party of Assam Legislation, Debabrata Saikia, said in sync with the series of meetings held at the national level, the party started to meet all the parties minus the BJP for understanding in the coming Lok Sabha elections. All the like-minded parties met today.

In the meeting, the main opposition parties present were the CPI, CPM, CPI (M), NCP, RJD, Raijor Dol, AJP, Jatiya Dol Asom, and Trinamool Congress.

The APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) organised a two-day meeting to discuss the various issues regarding the forthcoming Lok Sabha election. The meeting began on Thursday. AICC general secretary and Assam in-charge Jitendra Singh, APCC President Bhupen Borah, CLP (Congress Legislative Party) leader Debabrata Saikia, and other senior leaders were present in the meeting.

The meeting was held mainly for the five Lok Sabha constituencies: Silchar, Karimganj, Diphu, Kokrajhar, and Dhubri. The district presidents, mandal presidents, and MLAs from each of these five constituencies were present. And for every constituency, separate meetings were held. In the meetings, the party’s strength has been discussed. In the meeting, AICC secretary Prithviraj Sathe, Rokibul Hussain, and APCC working presidents Rana Goswami, Zakir Hussain Sikdar, and Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha were present.
