GUWAHATI: Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu has said that Kishan Credit Cards (KCC) loans are going to be given to 11,209 farmers in the district who have already got their names registered under the PM Kishan Yojana.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the Deputy Commissioner said that to avail KCC loan farmers have to provide land-holding certificates, besides giving details of the crops they cultivate. “A farmer taking up to Rs 1.60 lakh KCC loan won’t have to mortgage any of his property. However, a farmer taking over Rs 1.60 lakh up to Rs 3 lakh has to mortgage some property. This loan is disbursed with just 4 percent interest. However, if a farmer pays the loan regularly the interest, according to bankers, is reduced to zero percent,” he said.
Forms for KCC loans are being distributed now. The banks have to disburse the loan within 14 days of application. The DC further said that there is also the provision of crop insurance under the KCC. “So far 260 farmers of the district have insured their crops,” he said.
