144 CRPC in Guwahati City

GUWAHATI: A prohibitory order under section 144 was issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police: East Police District Guwahati, to protect life and property and to ensure peaceful movement of public, smooth flow of traffic and normal functioning of people.

As per the order, crackers can be burst only between 8 pm to 10 pm, bursting of crackers in public roads, market places and near hospitals, mosques and other places of public congregation, and bursting of crackers above the permissible limit of 125 db (A-1) 145 db (c) is prohibited in the entire East Police District, Guwahati, covering Dispur, Bhangagarh, Hatigaon, Basistha, Khetri, and Sonapur police station areas.

The order shall come into force with effect from October 25 upto midnight October 29. Any person contravening this order shall be liable to be punished in accordance with the provisions of Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
