GUWAHATI: The Estimate Committee of the 15th Assam Legislative Assembly will scrutinize the progress of schemes under five departments of the State government.

The departments are — Public Works Department, Public Health Engineering, Irrigation Department, Agriculture Department, and Forest Department.

It is to be noted that the 13-member committee comprises MLAs from both the Opposition and the ruling party. The chairman of the committee is BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) MLA Prasanta Phukan.

The committee will scrutinize each department for six months, during which it will check the implementation, progress, anomalies, and quality control of various schemes. Following the scrutiny, the committee will submit a report in the Assembly, which will include findings and recommendations regarding the schemes.
