GUWAHATI: The DGP (Director General of Police) has received a complaint from a cab driver that on-duty police personnel forcefully collected money from him at the Saraighat Bridge on June 27.

In this regard, the DGP directed the DIG (Deputy Inspector General) (Central and Western Range) to enquire into the incident. According to a police source, the complainant through an email alleged that, the personnel forcefully collected the money on the night of June 27. However, he didn't mention the specific time of the incident. Thus, as many as 16 police personnel who were on duty on June 27 from 8 pm to 12 pm were grilled at the DIG (CWR) Office on Monday. Accordingly, the statements of the 16 personnel were registered.
