GUWAHATI: Altogether 230 Covid-19 victims have been buried at the Guwahati Kabarasthan at Athgaon during the last one year. The first burial took place on June 26, 2020.

A member of the Guwahati Kabarasthan Committee said all funerals took place by following Covid-19 safety protocols. He said the committee came forward for burial in 2020 when many were reluctant to perform the last rites of Covid-19 victims.

A delegation of Guwahati Kabarasthan Committee on Saturday met Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and apprised him about various welfare activities (including free distribution of oxygen cylinders) being taken by the committee during the current pandemic.Murtaza Islam and Mamun Khan were in the delegation among others.

The committee congratulated Sarma for handing the Covid-19 efficiently as being the Chief Minister and former Health minister. The committee has requested the CM to set up a vaccination centre at the Guwahati Kabarasthan Committee premises. Sarma assured the delegation to solve all issues relating to Guwahati Kabarasthan. He also assured to visit the kabarasthan soon.
