GUWAHATI: The student welfare committee of AIIMS Guwahati is organizing a 4-day festival from Wednesday to December 2 inside the AIIMS campus. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Babul Kumar Bezbaruah, President of AIIMS Guwahati, and Prof. Ashok Puranik, Executive Director of AIIMS Guwahati, in the presence of faculty members, officers, staff, and students of the institute on Wednesday.

The festival promises to have a thrilling array of activities to showcase the diverse talents of future healthcare professionals. The undergraduate medical students, residents, and nursing staff from AIIMS Guwahati and nearby institutes in northeast India are participating in this event. A unique and entertaining show was organized by standup comedian, poet, and actor, Deepak Saini. He is the only comedian who hosted a mega media conclave in front of the Indian cabinet. Popularly known for the mimicry of politicians, Saini delivers performances that captivate the audience, creating an atmosphere of laughter and reflection.

Activities such as drama competitions, comedian shows, drama shows, sports, painting, rangoli competitions, chess, carrom, table tennis, dance, extempore, science quizzes, AIDS Day celebrations, Bollywood singing, instrumentals, debates, DJ nights, and plantation drives are planned during this 4-day festival of AIIMS Guwahati. The campus is expected to transform into an art gallery with painting and rangoli competitions, reflecting the artistic skills of the medical minds.

The festival will also feature activities like debate, extempore, and a writing competition. In line with its commitment to social awareness, AIIMS will also observe AIDS Day on December 1, 2023, with informative sessions and activities aimed at spreading awareness about this critical issue.

Prof. Ashok Puranik, Executive Director, AIIMS Guwahati, expressed excitement about the festival and said, “This festival is a celebration of the holistic development of our students. It is a platform for them to showcase their talents beyond medicine and foster a sense of community. We believe that a well-rounded education involves not just academic excellence but also the cultivation of diverse skills.”
