GUWAHATI: Another instance of cattle smuggling was prevented when a team from Jorabat Outpost of Basistha Police station, under the jurisdiction of East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) intercepted one truck bearing registration number AS 27C 6567 at Jorabat Link Road, when it was headed to Meghalaya.
During checking of the truck, it emerged that it was trying to smuggle 47 live cattle into Meghalaya. The police immediately seized the truck and arrested three persons travelling in the truck. The three thugs were identified as Saiful Hoque (38), Faruk Ali Ahmed (24), both from Gauripur, and Faridul Islam (33) of Morigaon. A case has been filed by Jorabat police and legal proceedings initiated against them.
