6th Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival 2018 concludes

GUWAHATI: The 6th edition of Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival (BVFF) 2018 that got underway at Pragjyoti ITA Centre in Guwahati on November 28, concluded today on a high note. BVFF, which is an initiative by Tattva Creations, concluded on December 1. Many renowned filmmakers and film personalities from across India attended the festival. “The BVFF has reached its 6th edition this year and it makes me extremely overwhelmed that we could reach till here. Now every year the responsibility as an organizing team has increased, as the festival has created a benchmark in itself. So we work hard to match the standards that we have set for ourselves”, said Tanushree Hazarika, Festival Director, BVFF & Managing Director Tattva Creations.

The major attraction for the last day was the BVFF short film contest 2018. The first prize was bagged by Survivors 3 pm by Sourav Das and Siddhant Ghosh, second prize by The Man who speaks Nature by Dhritiman Kakati and the third prize by Leikashi by Irel Luwang. The winner will get prize money of Rs 1,00,000, 1st runner up will get Rs 70,000 and 2nd Runner up will get Rs 50,000 along with the trophy and certificates.

The last day of the festival culminated with Anupam Kaushik Borah’s Assamese film Bornodi Bhotia. Other movies screened during the day are Endharor Bheta Bhangi (Breaking the Cocoon), Do Cup Chai, Adi- At The Confluence and The Lost Idea, IYE: The Others. Panel discussion was held with Bhaskar Hazarika, Debesh Chatterjee and Kenny Basumatary. Assamese film director Pulak Gogoi was conferred on the Lifetime Achievement award by Boman Irani this year in the festival. “I am very happy and overwhelmed that they have given me this recognition in the film fest. I am an 80-year-old man and we as artistes are and should forever be surrounded by creative environment. Getting this recognition at this age encourages me to do even more and not think the sky to be the limit. I aspire to do lot more in this field till my body and health supports me. Brahmaputra film festival is one such event that is helping to relive cinema in great performa”, said Pulak Gogoi.
