87-year-old woman charred to death in Kharghuli, Guwahati

GUWAHATI: In a heart-wrenching incident, an 87-year-old woman was burnt to death at her residence in the Kharghuli area of Guwahati on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Dhanmaya Biswakarna and is a widow of Harka Bahadur Biswakarna. She was living alone and her house was also gutted. The victim is survived by two sons who are residing in different areas of the city.

The fire was later doused by the Fire department and her body was recovered. The reason of the fire is yet unknown. However, the police officials suspect that the fire had spread from the bonfire or the lamp that were lit by her at the house.
