GUWAHATI: The All Assam Accredited Engineers' Association (AAEA) has prayed to the Gauhati High Court seeking adjournment of the APSC (Assam Public Service Commission) advertisement of June 24, 2020 for the filling up of 344 posts of junior engineer civil under the Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) department.

The members of the petitioner association are currently serving as contractual employees against the same posts for more than 10 years and an agreement was arrived at between the parties in the P&RD Department and the petitioner association that for the purpose of regular recruitment to the posts in which the members of the petitioner association are working, the government would consider giving priority to the experienced contractual employees with requisite qualification against the sanctioned regular vacant posts and for the purpose a model adopted by the APDCL in the similar circumstances would be taken into consideration.

The petitioner said that the impugned advertisement of June 24, 2020 the agreement arrived at between the respondent P&RD and the petitioner association had not been incorporated, meaning thereby that the agreement for giving precedence had been given a go by.

The consideration for interim prayer shall be given on July 21, 2020.
