GUWAHATI: The All Assam Law Students' Association (AALSA) has sent a memorandum to CK Mishra, Secretary,Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change through mail regarding the EIA draft. "Few things mentioned in the EIA draft regarding the environment may be disadvantageous for the people so we have requested the government to recheck the draft again and prepare a new draft which will be beneficial for the public and also the environment should be pollution free. In the present draft there are many mistakes which may be problematic for both human beings and for the environment. So regarding this we the AALSA, Central Committee along with 18 district committees of AALSA have discussed and have mentioned some obligations in the memorandum," a press release issued by the AALSA said.
AALSA's central president Kishore Kalita stated, "We are not against the law but whatever law is enacted should be in favour and beneficial for the public. Moreover, as the EIA draft is related to environment, so keeping in view for the environment as well as for the people the government should remake the EIA draft because if there is no stable biodiversity then we people cannot survive."
